Congratulations to our boys in winning their Sciath na Scol final today, and commiserations to our girls who faught bravely but were beaten by a point.
Both teams put in a fantastic performance and kept the spectators at the edge of their seats.
Well done to all involved. You did your parents and school proud.
A special thanks also to Mr. O'.Mahony, Mr. Irwin and Mr. Kenny for making it all possible. And Eoin Brenner ( past pupil) for all your help.

Active School Week
Dear
parents,
We
will be holding an active school week from April 9th to April 13th.
During this week the children are to wear their tracksuit each day.
We will be running a variety of activities to encourage and promote
sport and physical activity. The main focus of the week will be on
fun and inclusive physical activity.
It
is also a great way for our students and families to become more
aware of the physical activity opportunities available to them in
their local communities.
If
any parents/grandparents/aunts or uncles feel they have the time and
the skills that week to contribute to our active school week please
inform Miss Rochford or Miss Mac Dermot as early as possible, so that
they can put a timetable together.
We
are ideally looking for people who could perhaps introduce new
activities with the teachers to the children for example yoga, zumba,
pilates, badminton etc.…. Also it would be great if any adults
could give workshops on the importance of team work, food nutrition,
healthy living, water safety and we are open to ideas!
An
activity week suggestion box will also be left in the porch, where
ideas can be placed by children or parents.
Being physically active is one of
the most important steps to being healthy. Families play an important
role in helping children learn to be active and stay active
throughout their lives.
Did you know.....?
- Children, whose parents are active, are more than 5 times as likely to be active
- Children who remain active through education achieve higher grades in school
- Helps your child maintain a healthy weight
- Builds strong muscles and healthy bones
- Improves agility, balance and co-ordination
- Improves self-esteem and mood
- Better energy levels
- Provides better sleep quality – we all need some of that!
- Decreases the likelihood of developing obesity and risk factors for diseases like type 2 diabetes and heart disease
- May reduce anxiety and depression and promote positive mental health.
Thanks
Green School and Active School Committee
