Hurling and Football  skills 

Each year a  Gaa coach comes to the school to provide the children with an opportunity to learn new hurling and football skills 

School Football League

Each year children from 3rd- 6th Class participate in a school Football League. Matches are played at lunch time, with children from 6th class captaining each of the teams. There is always a great sense of team spirit, and anticipation surrounding the league matches, 

Sciath na Scol 

This year we had  a boys and a girls team competing in the Sciath na Scol Football competition. The children put in great performances and showed  real commitment to reach the finals. We eagerly await a date for the final. They are scheduled to be played in November after the mid Term

Tennis 

During the third school term when the weather gets better a tennis coach will provided tennis lessons to some of the classes.

Swimming lessons 

Each year first to fourth class will attend 10 weeks of swimming lessons.

Traditional Music

Every Wednesday a music teacher visits the school,  to teach the children from 1st class upwards traditional Irish Music. They begin in 1st class with learning the tin whistle.
As they advance through the school and progress with this instrument, many are given the opportunity  to learn the concertina or button accordion. This is operated through an instrument rental scheme arranged by the school, with the support of SECAD. 

Drama :  Christmas Concert

The Christmas concert will be performed in Inch Hall on Monday19th and Wednesday the 21st of December


Green School

Our school has been awarded three green school flags, the Litter and Waste flag, the Energy flag and the Water flag.  This year we are working on the travel flag.


1. Litter and WasteLitter & Waste is the first theme. It focuses on litter and waste issues, encouraging a sense of responsibility.


2. EnergyThe energy theme looks at the steps which can be taken at school to reduce energy consumption and raise awareness of climate change.


3. WaterThis theme develops awareness around water conservation and how to effectively manage this important resource in schools.


4. TravelThis theme aims to increase the number of students walking, cycling, scooting, using public transport or carpooling to school.http://greenschoolsireland.org/
